US home service: not on sale in the US Confirmed checked . We read leo.amazon.com on Oct 25, 2026, the way a household would find it, and checked the text behind the page (it is drawn in the browser, so we read its US message files directly). Nothing on it lets you order, reserve, rent or pre-pay. For the current answer at any time, our availability page keeps it up to date; this post is the dated record of what the site said that day.
What the site says, word for word
Three lines on Amazon's US Leo site sum up where things stand. The first is the headline a visitor sees.
“A new era of internet is coming.”

The only button for households is a sign-up for news, not an order form.
“Join the list to receive announcements and updates.”

And the footer explains why nothing can be sold yet: the terminals still need FCC authorization.
“These devices have not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. These devices are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”

The status on Oct 25, 2026
Each line below is a fact from our data files, with the label that says how sure it is and the date we checked it. "Not announced" means Amazon hasn't published it; we never fill the gap with a guess.

What "Join the list" is, and isn't
The sign-up form asks for your email address, postal code and country. Its consent line reads: "You agree to receive the latest news about Amazon Leo services and related offerings in your area at the email address provided above." Amazon's own FAQ describes the list the same way: "anyone who is interested in staying informed about Amazon Leo can sign up".
- It is an email list for announcements.
- It is not a waitlist position, a reservation, a deposit or an order. Nothing in the form or in Amazon's FAQ says it holds a place in line or gets you service sooner.
We never fill in that form for you, and we never ask for your email address or postal code. If you want Amazon's updates, sign up on Amazon's site yourself.
Not the same thing: the FCC licences from June
On Jun 12, 2026, the FCC granted Amazon's Kuiper Systems unit blanket licences to operate Leo user terminals in the US: Blanket earth-station licences granted for Kuiper user terminals (fixed and in-motion) Confirmed checked . Those licences cover running terminals on the network. They are not the separate equipment authorization a device needs before it can be marketed, sold or leased, which is what Amazon's footer says is still missing.
A week earlier, ruling on Amazon's request for more time to meet its first FCC deadline, the FCC described the market as it stood:
“At this time, only one operator, SpaceX, is providing broadband to American consumers from low-Earth orbit.”

What Amazon has said about timing
Amazon's newest dated statement on when service starts is from Sep 22, 2026: Initial service in certain locations later in 2026 Announced checked . It doesn't name the "certain locations", and it doesn't say the US is among them. Amazon's launch page, updated Oct 14, 2026, adds only that the team is preparing to roll out service "to customers around the world": Preparing to roll out service to customers around the world (no date) Announced checked .
In an interview reported on Oct 9, 2026, Amazon Leo's executives said initial service is still planned for later in 2026, gave no date and no price, and said Leo might one day be paired with Prime, eero, Fire TV or Ring. That is reported intent, not an offer: Initial service still planned in 2026, no date; pricing not revealed; possible Prime/eero/Fire TV/Ring pairing Reported checked .
What would change this
- Amazon's third-quarter results, due Oct 29, 2026. Results releases are where Amazon has updated its Leo timing before.
- An FCC equipment authorization for the Leo Nano, Pro or Ultra terminals. Until then, Amazon's own footer says they can't be sold or leased.
- A US plan or price page on leo.amazon.com, or an order button in place of "Join the list".
We'll log each of these in the tracker when it happens, with its source and date.

Status check: no US consumer service, no prices, terminals not yet FCC-authorized
On 25 October 2026 the US Amazon Leo site said 'A new era of internet is coming' and offered only a 'Join the list' sign-up for updates. Its footer said the terminals have not been authorized under FCC rules and may not be sold or leased until they are. No plan, price or service date is published.

Amazon Leo executives: initial service still planned for 2026; no price yet; Prime bundles possible
In an Ars Technica interview reported by Broadband Breakfast (2026-10-09) and Light Reading (2026-10-12), Amazon Leo's head Rajeev Badyal and VP Chris Weber said initial service is still planned for later in 2026 without giving a date, that launches would resume within weeks with at least three more in 2026 (a Vulcan first, then an Ariane 6, then more Vulcans), and that Leo might be paired with Amazon Prime, eero routers, Fire TV or Ring. No price, plan or bundle was announced.

How these facts were checked
We read every source listed below on the date shown. Quotes are copied from the source text and matched to it word for word, and every Amazon Leo item carries a label for how sure it is (confirmed, announced, planned, reported, unconfirmed or not announced). This post was drafted with AI assistance from those sources, and each number, date and quote was checked against them. It is dated: if the story moves on, we add a dated update instead of quietly rewriting it. Read the editorial policy.
FCC orders and Census data files are fixed public records whose text can't change, so the "Facts checked" date leaves them out. We read them on Oct 25, 2026; each one is listed at the foot of the page.
