Where it stands · as of

No. As of Nov 3, 2026, a US household can’t order Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper): Not available to order for homes (no consumer sales) Confirmed. Amazon’s US site offers only “Join the list”, and its footer says: “These devices are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”

What Amazon’s own US site says

Every page of leo.amazon.com carries this footer. Until it changes, the antennas can’t be sold or rented in the US:

“These devices have not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. These devices are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”

The only thing a household can do on the site is this:

“Join the list to receive announcements and updates.”

“…is currently testing the service with employees and with select enterprise customers as part of a private preview.”

“Remains on track to begin initial service of its Amazon Leo low Earth orbit satellite service later this year…”

That repeats “later this year” with no date and no locations, and nothing in it is for US households: a US home start date is Not announced.

And the FCC’s description of the market, from Jun 5, 2026:

“At this time, only one operator, SpaceX, is providing broadband to American consumers from low-Earth orbit.”

What “Join the list” is, and isn’t

The button on leo.amazon.com is the only sign-up Amazon offers households. We link to it, but we never fill it in for you or collect your details.

It is

  • An email list for news. The button reads “Join the list”, for announcements and updates (news about Amazon Leo services and related offerings in your area).
  • A short form. It asks for: email address (required); postal code (required); country (required, pick list).
  • Marketing consent. Its consent line: “You agree to receive the latest news about Amazon Leo services and related offerings in your area at the email address provided above.” The form also carries a hidden field: marketing opt-in preset to 'yes'.
  • What Amazon’s FAQ points to when asked about a waitlist: “For now, anyone who is interested in staying informed about Amazon Leo can sign up on …”

It isn’t

  • An order, reservation or deposit: no checked . Nothing in the form holds a place in line.
  • A coverage check. Amazon has no address checker or US coverage map: Not announced checked .
  • A beta invitation. Amazon’s testing is with its employees and select businesses (quoted above).
  • A way to buy on Amazon.com or in a store. Amazon.com sales: Not announced; retail stores: Not announced.

Amazon presents the list as a way to stay informed, not as a place in line. Signing up asks only for the details above.

Alaska and BEAD, in one line each

Alaska: the FCC’s Jul 30, 2020 order says of the first-generation design: “Given the proposed design of the Kuiper system, service cannot be provided to the majority of Alaska.” What that means for Alaska towns.

BEAD: on Jan 30, 2026 Amazon told the FCC: “27 states have chosen Amazon Leo to connect over 400,000 remote locations across the U.S.” That is Amazon’s own claim (27 states; over 400,000 locations Reported), not federal data, and Amazon has given no start date for those locations.

Availability: what readers ask

Is Amazon Leo available in my area?

Not for homes anywhere in the US as of Nov 3, 2026. Amazon has no address checker or coverage map to look up (Not announced checked ). The sign-up form asks for your postal code, but it is a news list, not a check.

Does Amazon Leo have a waitlist?

Not a waitlist with places in line. “Join the list” on leo.amazon.com is an email list for announcements: no order, deposit or reservation (no checked ).

How do I sign up for Amazon Leo?

On leo.amazon.com, with the “Join the list” button: email address (required); postal code (required); country (required, pick list). That is the only sign-up Amazon offers households; there is nothing to buy yet.

Is there an Amazon Leo beta or early access for households?

No. Amazon’s preview is for businesses and its own staff. Its FAQ says: “We began an enterprise preview in November 2025 to allow select business customers to begin testing the network using production hardware and software.” On Sep 22, 2026 Amazon said Leo “is currently testing the service with employees and with select enterprise customers as part of a private preview.” Households get only “Join the list”, an email list for news that reserves nothing, and Amazon hasn’t said that joining it gives priority (Not announced checked ). Cord Cutters News wrote on Feb 23, 2026: “Early sign-ups are expected to gain priority access to the beta phase…” That is the site’s claim, not Amazon’s. Treat an invitation to a household “beta”, or any request for payment, as something Amazon hasn’t announced.

Should I pay someone to get Amazon Leo early?

No. There’s nothing to buy, reserve or put a deposit on yet. Amazon’s own sign-up asks only for your email address, postal code and country, with no payment, and its US site footer says: “These devices are not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”

Can I buy Amazon Leo on Amazon.com or in a store?

No. Amazon.com sales: Not announced checked . Retail stores: Not announced checked . The US site footer says the devices can’t be offered for sale or lease until they get FCC authorization.

Can a business get Amazon Leo now?

Only select companies in Amazon’s private preview, running since Nov 2025 Confirmed checked . AT&T will offer it to enterprise and public-sector customers but hasn’t started: Amazon’s results of Oct 29, 2026 say AT&T “will be the first” major US telecom provider to do so, and as reported on Sep 8, 2026, AT&T said availability and pricing would come later (both quoted above).

Will Amazon Leo work in Hawaii or Puerto Rico?

They are in the planned coverage area, with no date. On Jul 30, 2020 the FCC described Amazon’s first-generation plan as “…thereby serving the contiguous United States, Hawaii, U.S. territories, and other world regions.” (Hawaii and US territories inside the planned coverage area; no service dates Planned). Amazon has given no start date for Hawaii, Puerto Rico or any other territory.

Is there an Amazon Leo coverage map?

Not from Amazon: Not announced checked . Any map you find elsewhere is someone else’s drawing.

How these facts were checked

We read Amazon’s US site (leo.amazon.com, its home and technology pages and the footer on every page), Amazon’s newsroom, FAQ and quarterly results, and the FCC orders. Every quote shows the day we last checked it against its source: Amazon’s pages on Nov 3, 2026, the FCC orders on Oct 25, 2026. For the “Join the list” form we read only the form’s field list, the way a browser loads it; we never submitted it or signed anyone up. Country and company rows come from Amazon’s and the other companies’ own announcements; press reports are labeled “Reported”. Read the editorial policy.

FCC orders and Census data files are fixed public records whose text can't change, so the "Facts checked" date leaves them out. We read them on Oct 25, 2026; each one is listed at the foot of the page.
